The Power To Be Free: P.3 (10.8.17)

There is a difference between deliverance and freedom. You can be physically delivered out of a situation but mentally still in bondage to it.

Deliverance sets you up for freedom.

John 8:30-33
[30] As he spake these words, many believed on him. [31] Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; [32] And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. [33] They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

Take God at His Word. Use the Word to renew your mind.

True freedom is when you have power to exercise dominion.

Don’t let what is behind you cause you not to walk in what God has before you. The only way your past can affect your future is if you choose not to let go of it.

Until you experience spiritual, physical and mental freedom- you are not free.

Joshua 1:6-9
[6] Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. [7] Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. [8] This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.[9] Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Many people have been delivered physically but are bound mentally.

Exodus 13:17
[17] And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:

Numbers 13:30-33
[30] And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. [31] But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. [32] And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. [33] And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Psalm 105:37
He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

When God brought the Israelites out of Egypt, they had on their fighting clothes. They were physically dressed for battle, but mentally they were still in bondage. Physically , God had brought them out of Egypt with the wealth of Egypt. They were all healthy, whole, and there wasn’t “one feeble person among them”.

All they had to do was believe what God said and move on it. Instead, they let their doubt  (their past) hinder them from what God said they could have (their future). God told them that the promised land was theirs. All they had to do was take it. But they were so used to being under a “master” that they would have rather returned to captivity than face the people squatting on the land God promised they would take.

Numbers 14:4
[4] And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

Numbers 14:26-31
[26] And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, [27] How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me. [28] Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the Lord , as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: [29] Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me, [30] Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. [31] But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.

Don’t let your past be the excuse for your present.

Don’t ever think that the promises of God are too big. He if says it, He can do it! Just take God at His Word.

Ask yourself, “Could God have something for me that the mental bondage of my past is not allowing me to walk in?”

Numbers 11:5-6
[5] We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick: [6] But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.

Being in the right location doesn’t mean you have had the right transformation. True transformation must be mental as well as physical.

God doesn’t give you what you want, He gives you what you can manage.

God will reserve His best until you get in the place of His will.

In the wilderness, God gave them just enough.

Joshua 5:9-12
[9] And the Lord said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day. [10] And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho.[11] And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day. [12] And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

Until you are free in your mind you are not free.
