7 Steps To The Next Level: P.4 (1.28.18)

Jeremiah 9:23-24
[23] Thus saith the Lord , Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: [24] But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord .

STEP #2 EXCELLENCE

Everything we do should be excellent.

You cannot expect to excel if you are not operating in excellence.
You cannot operate in excellence and not excel in life.

Our motive for excellence should be pure. We should want to be excellent to bring God glory.

Purpose is revealed by design. Man was made in the image of God- to bring Him glory.

Hebrews 1:3
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

Glory is the manifestation of the attributes/character of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31
[31] Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

We all have the ultimate singular purpose in life to bring God glory. It doesn’t matter if you’re a teacher, a doctor, a singer, etc… whatever you do, do it for the glory of God. When you express God’s love , His wisdom, or any of His attributes, and people see that in you, it gives God glory.

God is worthy of our best!

The world measures excellence in a horizontal way. We should not measure our life by comparing it to others around us. Rather, we should use God’s Word as our model and standard of comparison.

2 Corinthians 10:17
[17] But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

God alone is responsible for our promotion. When we operate with the intentions of bringing Him glory, He will take us to the next level.

2 Corinthians 11:30
[30] If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.

God wants to do things in our lives that only He can get the credit for. So develop a vision based off His word that only He can perform. He can do anything we wont take the credit for.

Revelation 4:11
[11] Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

My life should reveal the Power and Love of God.

Daniel 6:1-3
[1] It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom; [2] And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage. [3] Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

Don’t let your surroundings tell you where you cannot go.

Sometimes God will allow opposition from the enemy so that He can either work something out of us, or build faith within us- all so that He can prepare us for where He wants to take us.

Daniel 11:32
[32] And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits .

4 things about excellence:
1) An excellent spirit refuses to be ignorant – Dan 5:14-17
Learn everything you can about whatever you put your hand to do. Gain as much knowledge as you can.

2) An excellent spirit is not motivated by money – Ps. 73:25, Dan 6:10
Recognize that promotion comes only from God. An excellent spirit wont be moved by a paycheck because it knows that promotion comes from God.

3) An excellent spirit can not be intimidated – Dan 6:4, 2 Chr. 16:9
When we operate in the spirit of excellence, it makes those who are lazy look bad. Sometimes they will resort to intimidation. But intimidation is just a tactic of the enemy. A man who defends himself will always be average. Jesus is our defense. We must refuse to be intimidated.

4) An excellent spirit will not compromise integrity – Ps 26:1
If you don’t have values, you’ll do “whatever it takes” to get where you’re trying to go. But an excellent spirit will not compromise it’s values to excel. We don’t need to. Promotion comes from God. Operate in excellence and He will establish you.
