Step #6 HONOR
How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
Honor is a delegation of authority. Authority is the right to command and be obeyed
Biblically, honor is the delegation of the right to command and be obeyed.
There is a delegation of authority that only God can place on your life.
All legitimate authority is given by God.
Always give honor to what God has said in His Word.
There is not anything that is in the earth that God hasn’t given us power over…we’ve been given dominion.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
God is so serious about honor that He made it the first commandment with a promise attached. He wants honor to begin in the home.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
Honor should be given in all directions: to those above you, beside and under.
You can’t receive from a person you will not honor.
Don’t let how someone acts keep you from showing them honor. By honoring everyone, you honor God.
If there is an area that you are dishonorable in your life, God cannot honor you in that area. If theres a relationship in your life that you don’t show honor, God can’t use that relationship to bless you.
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
God can’t put you over anything when you aren’t under Him.
Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
1 Samuel 2:30
Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hand s upon a few sick folk, and healed them .
Jesus couldn’t work there because they did not honor Him.
God will not work where he is not honored.
And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
The power of God is present in our lives. How we receive from Him is determined by how we Honor Him and His Word.
And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man , Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doth it. When Jesus heard it , he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
A centurion is a Roman soldier. Even this Roman recognized and honored Jesus’ authority. Though the Roman was a man in authority himself, he knew that by honoring Jesus, it would also benefit those under his authority.
People that cannot be under authority can not operate in authority.
The number one hinderance to honor is pride.
He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
Honor those above, beside and beneath you.
God will reward where you will honor.
When we dishonor a person, it eliminates God from being able to bring something into our life through that person.
