Write. Run. Wait. – P.1 (1.6.19)

Habakkuk 2:1-4
I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

Wait is active, not passive. You can’t write the vision if you don’t have one. Vision is vital our lives. The Word of God should be the source of your vision.

If you write (communicate) the vision effectively then others can run with it.

Biblically, to “wait” means to bind by twisting; to get your stuff together. It is preparing for what you’re expecting. When we wait right, it allows others to look at us and deduce by our actions that we are expecting something to happen.

There are three things that come with, or go hand-in-hand with write:
– Communication
– Relationships
– Unity

The enemy to vision is division. God will provide provision to advance a vision He has given.

Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

The vision you have needs to come from God’s Word.

To “perish” means to cast off restraint.

Vision produces discipline. But if you have no vision, you’ll give up. God uses vision and hope in His Word to make us disciples.

You can’t use your history as an excuse to not make a decision for your future. With God, your history does not define your destiny. If you always hold on to your past, you’ll never move forward.

Don’t allow your mind to dictate your future by being negative. Choose to cast down negative thoughts and believe what the Word says. Use it to develop a vision for your future. God will use your expectation as a platform to do exceedingly and abundantly above.

Ephesians 3:20
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Elevate your vision.

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hope= vision.

People that have no hope will not see the need for faith.

God’s Word promises that we do have that which we can’t see.

You have to stay focused on the Word until the vision in you becomes bigger than the thing you’re facing in life.

Romans 8:24-25
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

We have to keep hope alive while we wait. People without hope won’t have the discipline to wait.

Proverbs 3:3
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

Your heart is the tablet. What you say with your mouth is how you write on your heart. What others say also writes on your heart.

Don’t listen to people who say things you don’t want written on your heart. Separate yourself from those who speak discouragement and defeat.

Allow God’s Word to write on your heart because your life will complete the image you have of yourself .

Living For The Glory of Jesus and His Word: P.4 (12.23.18)

1 Corinthians 10:31
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Luke 2:13-14
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

The closer you get to God the more you reveal Jesus to the world.

4 ways that God reveals Himself:
His Creation
His Son Jesus and His Word
His Children
His Works

In Exodus 33:18 Moses asked to see the glory of God.

Until the Father has been presented to us, we can’t represent Him to the world.

2 Corinthians 4:3-6
But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.  For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

God will make himself known, even before you know that He has love and affection for you.

The goodness of God leads us to repentance.

2 Corinthians 3:18
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

You take on the image of whatever it is you consistently behold.

When you see Jesus for who He is in His Word…it will change you.

Proverbs 23:7
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

John 2:11
This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

God wants to use you to make Himself known.

Each individual can reach people that someone else wouldn’t be able to.

1 Chronicles 16:24-29
Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations. For great is the Lord , and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the people are idols: but the Lord made the heavens. Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place. Give unto the Lord , ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

Numbers 14:21-22
But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord . Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

God’s motive for doing things in our lives is because He wants a relationship.

John 15:7-11
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.  As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.  If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.  These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

John 17:4-6
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

John 17:9,16-18,20-23
I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Colossians 1:27
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Isaiah 60:1-2
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

Our desire should be to glorify God in our lives…that He would do something in our lives that only He can get the credit for.

We can’t show the world who Jesus is if we haven’t seen who He truly is ourselves. Find out who Jesus is by getting in the Word!

Praying The Names of God: P.4 (12.12.18)

Matthew 6:9
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Jehovah Rohi- Lord our Shepherd

Psalm 23:1
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

In Jesus we find:

Because the Lord is our Shepherd we are accepted, loved and known.

Psalm 138:8 says that God will perfect that which concerns you.

1 Thessalonians 5:23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 23:2-3
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Our lives should be a reflection of who God is. That brings Him glory.

There are things that God wants to do in our life for His name’s sake.

1 Corinthians 10 instructs us to cast down every thought that rises against God’s Word.

We need to know God’s Word so that we know what to accept and reject.

The book of Hosea says that God’s people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge

Psalm 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Example of rod and staff
Rod – Word
Staff – Spirit

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Psalm 23:5-6
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Don’t be discouraged by the valley…

The Shepherd never leads His sheep down a path that He hasn’t walked down Himself before.

The Lord doesn’t lead us through a place that he isn’t present with us, or that he hasn’t been through before to prepare.

Isaiah 52:12 and 58:8 call Jesus our forerunner and rearguard.

The valley will separate you from your enemies and sin. It will show you who your friend are, lead you to prayer and do a work in you that will prepare you for the table.

The table is a place that the shepherd would have prepared.

There is a place that God has prepared for you for which you should set yourself in expectation.

Philippians 4:6-9
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.  Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Living For The Glory of Jesus And His Word: P.2 (12.9.18)

1 Corinthians 10:31
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Hebrews 1:3… tells us that glory is the expressed image of God. It’s the essence of who He is.

Bringing God glory should be the motive of everything we do.

Isaiah 42:8
I am the Lord : that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

Jeremiah 9:23-24
Thus saith the Lord , Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord .

God delights when we give Him the glory.

Our lives should motivate people back to a relationship with Jesus.

Romans 3:10…in ourselves there is not good.

4 things that bring God glory:
His creation
His Word and His son Jesus
His works
His children

Psalm 19:1-4
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

God uses His creation to reveal himself and to remind us of his greatness.

Exodus 20:9-10
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Job 38:1-7
Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.  Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?  Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Romans 1:18-28
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,  And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

When you take God out of anything He created, you are left with perversion.

Revelation 4:11
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Living For The Glory of Jesus and His Word: P.1 (12.2.18)

Ask yourself, “What am I living for?

Don’t go through the motions of life and not be living for something.

What things would you give your life for? That will show you what you’re living for.

1 Thessalonians 5:23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God wants to enrich our lives. He wants us to have things, but not for things to have us.

Ultimately God has called us to live for His glory.

Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

When we are doing what God called us to do, that’s when we are most content.

Philippians 4:12-13
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Peace is not wrapped up in what you have or where you are in life. True peace comes from knowing that you bringing God glory and fulfilling the purpose He has for you.

Ask yourself, “Is my life causing others to glorify God?”

1 Corinthians 10:31
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

As long as we live with the mindset that God couldn’t use us to bring Him glory, we will fall short of His plan.

God will use what man rejects just to show His power.

Psalm 8 says that before man sinned, he was clothed with God’s glory.

What does it mean to bring glory to God?

Glory – weighty, the manifestation of who God is

Hebrews 1:3
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

When God has manifested and revealed himself, the response should be glory!

Luke 12 reiterates that life does not consist in the things that a man possesses.

2 Corinthians 10:15-17
Not boasting of things without our measure, that is , of other men’s labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly, To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s line of things made ready to our hand. But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

God can do anything in your life that you wont take the credit for.

Be willing to lose credit for all and give it to God for His glory. Thats when you find true life satisfaction.

It always comes down to motive. With anything, ask yourself, “Why am I doing this? What’s my motive? Would this bring God glory?”

Pray that God does something in your life that only He can get the credit for. Thats when you really experience His presence.

1 Chronicles 16:24
Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.

Marriage Matters: P.7 (11.25.18)

Traits to have in marriage

  1. Adaptability
  2. Empathy
  3. Communication
  4. Ability to handle Conflict and Problems
  5. Know love language and speak that language.

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Romans 11:16
For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy : and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

Be intentional about how you communicate love.

Marriage is not a place for assumption. Don’t assume that your spouse knows that you love them. Be intentional about communicating your love to your spouse.

1 Corinthians 14:19
Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

Make sure that when you are communicating love that you are speaking the language that your spouse speaks.

5 Love Languages:
Words of Affirmation
Physical Touch
Quality Time
Acts of Service

Know your spouses love languages. Don’t just speak to them in your own love language and expect them to speak the same language. You have to discover and speak their love language.

Types of love:

Philio – Brotherly love.

Storge – The love of a parent to a child.

Eros – Where we get the word “erotic”.

Agape – God’s love- unconditional love. Agape love is all about the recipient and takes no thought for the giver.

God gives commandments to address weakness. Many times in the book of Ephesians God tells the husband to love the wife.

God has called the man to be the pursuer. It’s the husband’s responsibility to pour into the wife everything that God gave to him.

It is the responsibility of the husband to be the giver, initiator, pursuer.

Ephesians 5:23-29,33
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

You can’t walk in the harvest of what you haven’t sown.

Love is a decision, not a feeling or emotion.

  1. Stability

Emotionally – Proverbs 18:14

Financially – Proverbs 24:27

  1. Similarities

Amos 3:3
Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

2 Corinthians 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Common interest…faith, convictions, family

Praying The Names Of God: P.1 (11.21.18)

Psalm 138:2
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Psalm 89:34
My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

Isaiah 55:11
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

John 15:7-8
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

2 Corinthians 1:20
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

There is no substitute for praying the Word and standing in faith.

There are two guarantees in prayer:
God’s Word
The name of Jesus

When you pray the Word of God in the authority of the name of Jesus, you’re guaranteed results.

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

There is power in the name of Jesus

Proverbs 18:10
The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

The Word of God reveals the will of God.

John 14:13-14
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

1 Timothy 2:5-6…Jesus is our mediator.

Romans 3:23…sin separates us from the Glory of God

Salvation restores relationship to the father.

Without Jesus we do not have access to the Father.

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 16:23-27
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

Hebrews 3:1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

Jesus is the mediator of our profession.

Go into prayer recognizing that Jesus is the mediator and prayer words of faith that Jesus can take to the Father.

Colossians 3:16-17
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Proverbs 18:10
The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

There is power, safety and salvation in the name of Jesus.
