How To Develop Your Seed of Faith: P.3 (9.16.18)

Psalm 126:1-6
When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them. The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Verses 1-4 are a result of vs. 5-6.

Biblically, a “heathen” is an unbeliever.

v.1-3: The great things that God did caused the unbelievers (heathens) to look into the lives of the believers and realize it was the Lord who had done great things for them.

v.5-6: It’s not always going to be easy when you’re sowing. When it’s the hardest for you to sow something, that is “precious seed”.

It’s not up to us to determine what/when someone else’s harvest should be. God has only called us to sow and let Him worry about the harvest.

Don’t mingle your seeds.

Psalm 107:37
And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.

Proverbs 11:24-26
There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

1 Kings 18 (entire chapter):

v.21- At this point there had been no rain for three and a half years. They were in the middle of a drought brought on by idolatry. Elijah called a challenge with the prophets of Baal. Whoever answered by fire would be proven as God. Baal’s prophets went through the motions to no avail, and with no answer. When it was Elijah’s turn, he sowed what he wanted to reap… water. God responded with fire by licking up the water and then sending the rain.

It would have been a sacrifice for them to sow that water initially. It was the only water they had, and it was precious. But God responded to Elijah’s faith because He knew his motivation was for the people to know who the real God is. Elijah’s decision to sow precious seed caused the heathens to acknowledge God and the one true God.

When God sent the rain, the first time they saw the cloud, it looked as small as a man’s hand… but that is because they were seeing it from a distance. When the rain made it to them, it was a downpour.

Your harvest comes in stages. Don’t despise the day of small beginnings! You may be seeing your breakthrough from a distance. There will come a day when you see it close up.

How To Develop Your Seed of Faith: P.2 (9.9.18)

Mark 4 describes the different types of ground that God’s Word can be sown into.

1 Peter 1:23 says that God’s Word is an incorruptible seed.

Hosea 10:12
Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

Break up the hardened parts of your heart. What are you reading, listening to, watching? What needs to be uprooted so that your heart will become good ground for the seed of God’s Word?

Haggai 1:6-7
Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes. Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

Whatever kind of seed you sow is the kind of harvest you will reap. They had sown much and reaped little, because the ground of their heart wasn’t that good.
Because of this, God told them to consider their ways.

Galatians 6:7-9
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

If you get the right seed, you’ll get the right harvest. It’s your heart that determines wether you’re sowing into the flesh or the spirit. What do you have an appetite for?

You’ll get control of the harvest when you get control of the seed.

Everything in life is a seed. Start sowing what you want to reap. When you start treating everything as seed, life can get really exciting.

Salt & Light: P.6 (9.5.18)

Proverbs 4:18-19
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

Psalm 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Proverbs 20:27
The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord , searching all the inward parts of the belly.

Psalm 18:28
For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.

1 Thessalonians 5:5-8
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.  For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

How To Develop Your Seed of Faith: P.1 (9.2.18)

Mark 4:13
And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

Jesus told them that if they did not get this parable, they wouldn’t get any of the others.

A parable is a natural story or principle that reveals a spiritual truth. Theres always a natural side and a spiritual side.

Mark 4:1-12 describes the different types of ground that the seed of God’s Word can go in.

The Word of God is an incorruptible seed. It always works.

1 Peter 1:23
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

If you aren’t getting a harvest, it’s not because of the seed. It is because of the ground in your heart.

Genesis 1:11
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

God’s first established principle is that every seed will bring forth more of its own kind. Whatever you want more of in your life, plant more of that thing.

If you don’t like the harvest, change the seed you’re sowing.

It is not a coincidence that Jesus’ first parable was in regard to God’s first law.

If you think you can sow a seed and not reap the harvest, you are deceived.

Galatians 6:9
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

You will always harvest what you have sewn. If you don’t want it in your life, don’t sow it.

Genesis 8:22
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

We have to get in the mindset that even when we don’t have the harvest we want, we can recognize that we do have the seed… and thus, the ability to change the harvest.

Example: If you don’t have any friends, treat friendliness like a seed. Sow friendship by being a friend to others.

Luke 17:5-6
And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

They asked for more faith and Jesus pointed them to the parable of sowing.

Whatever you want more of , start sowing it.

It violates spiritual principle to think you aren’t able to walk in the harvest of what you have sown. If you know you’ve sown it, expect that it will manifest in due time.

Once you start to understand the law of sowing and reaping, you will stop taking ownership of the things you know you did not sow. The enemy sows things in our lives too. As we learn to live by the principle of sowing and reaping, we will learn to reject the harvest of things we know we didn’t plant.

Psalm 126:5-6
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Luke 6:37-38
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

With the same measure you are dishing out, you’ll reap it back… pressed down, shaken together, and running over.

Psalm 119:11
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Sow God’s Word in your heart so that you can reap its harvest in your life.

Salt & Light: P.5 (8.29.18)

Luke 10:25-29
And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

There is a purpose God has for us and we are here for a reason.

Luke 10:30-35
And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him , and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him , and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him , And went to him , and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

Jesus is coming back.

2 Peter 3:8-9
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

1 Peter 3:20
Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

Genesis 18:18...God waited to save Sodom

How To Add Patience To Your Faith: P.5 (8.26.18)

James 1:2-4
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Temptation isn’t referring to evil influence. It’s simply pressure that is put on the flesh.

Faith will aways be tested.

Mark 4:14
The sower soweth the word.

John 8:30
As he spake these words, many believed on him.

James 1:5-8
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

How do you ask in faith, without wavering? Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). So to ask God in faith means that you are praying based on the promises in His Word. Double-minded people will waver because they haven’t committed to the decision to believe His promises. When you ask in faith, commit to believing what the Word says.

Luke 21:19
In your patience possess ye your souls.

Patience will cause you to gain control of your thoughts.

Faith has to be treated like seed.

Luke 17:5
And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

Mark 4:26-27
And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.

The sower doesn’t know how the seed springs up and grows, but when he is faithful to the process, the seed will spring up in due time.

Ecclesiastes 11:1,4-6
Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all. In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.

If you are “observing” and factoring in what you can see naturally, you wont ever sow. You can’t let whats happening in the natural dictate your faith.

We have to get to a place where we sow in faith and expect the Word to come to pass in our lives– no matter what it looks like naturally.

Psalms 105:19
Until the time that his word came: the word of the Lord tried him.

Joseph had gotten a word from God and then it was tested.

There is a day when the Word of God you have sown will manifest in your life. Until that time, the Word will try you.

If you wait right, you wont wait long.

Psalms 104:27
These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.

Psalms 130:5
I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.

People should be able to look at our life and tell what we are waiting on by what we’ve prepared for.

Exodus 12
On their last night in bondage , God told the children of Israel to have their shoes on and tied, to have their coats and to bake bread without leaven (which takes time to rise). He was getting ready to bring them out. You could tell by looking at them that they were expecting to get delivered.

In the parable of the 10 virgins, only 5 of them were ready to go when they were called to the marriage supper. They were prepared with their garments on and oil in their lamps. The other 5 weren’t expecting because they prepared.

When Peter was stuck in prison, God gave him two simple commands: tie your shoes and get your coat. It wasn’t much, but God needed a simple act of faith to use. It also communicated to those around him that he was getting ready, and expecting something to happen. Peter expected God to get him out.

How are you showing God that you are waiting on Him? Are you preparing for what you expect?

Lamentations 3:25-26
The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.

Let God know that you are waiting on your due season. Be ready because you never know when it is coming!

Salt & Light: P.4 (8.22.18)

Luke 4:14-21
And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Isaiah 61:1-2
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord , and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

We, as salt and light, are meant to preserve.

Revelation 2:7,11,17,29
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Revelation 3:6,13,22
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

The church must be sensitive to what the Spirit of God wants to say.

It is the purpose of the church to be the voice of God’s Spirit to the world.

The church without the power of the Holy Spirit is a moot point.

Revelation 4:1
After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

1 Thes 4:16-17
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Matthew 24:4-8,36-38
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. But of that day and hour knoweth no man , no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were , so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

1 Peter 3:20
Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

2 Peter 3:3-12
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. [10] But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Romans 2:3-4
And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Our lives should express the goodness of God to those around us.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-7
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come , except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let , until he be taken out of the way.
