Praying The Word: P.5 (10.31.18)

Matthew 6:9-10
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Deuteronomy 19…choose life

Matthew 16:18-19
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

God wants to invade your life on earth from heaven. Heaven is engaged with the earth.

Could it be that God has not moved in a supernatural way because we have failed to operate in the authority that He has given us by binding and loosing things?  ( See Matt. 16:18-19)

Look at whatever you’re facing and choose to say about that situation what the Lord says in His Word.

John 17:17 says that the Word is truth.

Jesus is our High Priest (aka-mediator)

Psalm 91:1-16
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord , He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.  Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the Lord , which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Vs. 11 – Luke 12:8

Heaven is aware and responding to the Word being prayed in the earth.

Vs. 14 – God will do in you what you know of Him

Salvation has many benefits…

Hebrews 1:13-14
But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Hebrews 2:1,3
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.  How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him ;

Angels respond to the God’s Word.

Psalm 103:1-6,20-22
Bless the Lord , O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord , O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. Bless the Lord , ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. Bless the Lord , all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord , O my soul.

Daniel 10:1,5-12
In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.  And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.  And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.

It is not vain to pray the Word of God. When you speak the Word of God in the authority of the name Jesus, angels move to bring it to pass.

Declare the written Word of God!!

Marriage Matters: P.5 (10.28.18)

1 Corinthians 7:1-5
Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

“defraud” means to refuse or deprive.

You’ll never have a healthy marriage if you only think about yourself. The difference between a frustrated and fulfilled marriage depends on if each spouse’s needs are being met. Needs control behavior.

Marriage is a needs-based relationship. Each person must be sensitive to the needs of his/her spouse.  If we can’t put ourselves in our spouse’s shoes (have empathy), then we won’t care about meeting their needs. And if we don’t make their needs a priority, we are directly disobeying the Word of God, which instructs us not to defraud (refuse or deprive) each other.

Empathy is critical to marriage. We must be willing to understand our spouse’s needs and be willing to meet them; even though they are different from our own. Two can’t become one until each spouse becomes like clay (adaptable) so that God can mold them together.

Ephesians 5:28-29
So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

When you meet the needs of your spouse, it frees them up to meet your needs. If you don’t meet their needs, they will be mentally preoccupied and concerned with how they are going to get their needs met. You don’t want to leave them vulnerable to that attack of the enemy.  Don’t leave that door open in your marriage.

There are 5 needs that every husband has, and 5 needs that every wife has in marriage… and 2 needs that apply to both the husband and wife.

Husband’s Needs:
-Physical intimacy (Sex)
-Recreational companionship
-An attractive spouse(not just physical, see below for explanation)
-Domestic support
-Admiration, encouragement and respect

Wife’s Needs:
-Emotional intimacy
-Communication and partnership
-Honesty, openness and affirmation
-Security, financial support and protection
-Family, commitment and priority

Both Need:
-Honor
-Love, acceptance and spiritual intimacy

Husband’s needs explained:

Physical intimacy: Men need physical intimacy//sex.  1 Cor. 5 says not to defraud each other, or withhold and deny meeting each other’s needs.  Wives, don’t leave your husband wondering how he will get his needs for physical intimacy met.

Recreational companionship: The burden/responsibility of work was given to the man. (The wife has the burden/responsibility of raising the children.) Men need to be able to to enjoy what they have worked for. Wives, help your husband enjoy what he’s been working so hard for. Malachi 2:14 calls the wife the companion of the husband.

An attractive spouse: There are two women described in Proverbs 31 and Proverbs 7. One dresses attractively for her husband and one dresses like a harlot. One cares about the ways of her house and the other does not. Wives, if you are willing to get all made up to go out with your friends, but you dress like a slouch on date night with your husband, it subconsciously communicates that he doesn’t mean as much to you. Give him the same effort you give anyone else. ** Attractiveness goes beyond physical appearance. It is in the way you speak and how you carry yourself. Showing love is attractive. Making in investment for your husband is attractive.

Domestic support: Husbands need help on the home-front and with the kids!

Admiration, encouragement and respect: Ladies, even if your husband isn’t able to do much, applaud him for what he can do. Don’t disrespect him in front of another man. If he does something, admire him for it. That reaffirms your love for him.

Wife’s needs explained:

Emotional intimacy: There is a huge difference between physical and emotional intimacy. The bible calls men a fountain (they don’t need any reason to be physically intimate). Women are compared to deep wells. You have to be ready to patiently draw. Women want to connect on a deeper level through intimate conversation. That is what draws them into intimacy. Men, do not leave your wives strained for emotional connection and intimacy.

Communication and partnership: The wife needs to know that her husband isn’t just present, but that he will partner with her in raising the kids, doing life…. etc. She needs openness and communication. There should be complete transparency in marriage, and equal partnership. Back her up with the kids. Partner with her in her endeavors.

Honesty, openness, value and affirmation: Wives are affirmed by their husbands openness and honesty. Men, you should always be reminding you wife by what you say, how you treat/serve her, that she is valuable and that you love her. Reaffirm it constantly. When you are honest and open, it communicates to your wife that you have nothing to hide; that she is the one person with whom you can and will share everything.  That tells her she is important to you.

Security, financial support and protection: The responsibility of work/being the provider was given to the man. The wife’s responsibility is for the children. The wife is the ‘nester’. She needs to know that her nest is financially supported, that it is secure, and that it’s protected. **Financial support is more than having the gas, water and lights turned on. Your wife will want to get her hair/nails done. Etc. Men, provide for your wives! If the family is not provided for, God holds the husband responsible. The burden of financial support was never meant to be placed on the woman. If a wife wants to stay home, that is her God-given right. (Note: wives, if you choose this, be sensitive that you will have to structure your budget around one income.) Security is a huge thing with women. If your wife knows she is secure, she can truly become free to be the best wife.

Family, commitment and priority: A wife needs to know that she is priority #1 to her husband, and that no one/nothing else will be put before her. She needs to know that her husband is committed to making and keeping her a priority, and that he is committed to the well-being of the family. Husbands, this means that if your wife is concerned about something, you should take it seriously. Address it with her in love. Even if her concerns don’t seem relevant to you, they are real to her. So walk through it with her.

Both husband and wife need:

Honor: Both husband and wife need to be shown value and preference by the other. This is communicated in so many different ways: For example: if a wife is trying to talk to her husband, but he’s flipping through the channels on the tv, that doesn’t show preference. If a husband is trying to spend time with his wife, but she’s texting, that doesn’t show preference. When you are with each other, be with each other. Put the distractions away. Make it a priority to protect your time together to connect.

Love, acceptance and spiritual intimacy: Love is a choice- not a feeling. Choose to love each other and prefer one-another, even when its hard. Make your marriage a safe place, where each spouse can be honest and vulnerable without fear of rejection. Pray and read the Word together. As you both get closer to God, you will inevitably get closer to each other.

Praying The Word: P.4 (10.24.18)

James 5:15,17-18
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

Effective prayers are based on the Word of God.

God’s Word is the source of prayer. When you pray the Word, heaven and earth will move to bring it to pass.

Prayer is all about advancing the will of heaven in the earth.

Call on heaven to affect earth.

Isaiah 55:8-11
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord . For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Everything that God said in His Word will happen.

When was the last time you returned God’s Word to Him?

John 15:7-8
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Psalm 89:34
My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

Joshua 6:26
And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the Lord , that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

1 Kings 16:29-34
And in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah began Ahab the son of Omri to reign over Israel: and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years. And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord above all that were before him. [31] And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him. And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.  In his days did Hiel the Beth-elite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the Lord , which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.

1 Kings 17:1
And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

Deuteronomy 10:8, 11:16

There are two guarantees in prayer:
The Word of God
The name of Jesus.

God always has what He says.

When you are standing in faith on a promise you found in God’s Word, know that it will come to pass.

In any situation, all we need is a promise from God’s Word to stand on. When we declare it, we will see it come to pass.

Psalm 138:2
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

God’s Word makes His name.

John 14:13-14
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

2 Chronicles 20:5-9
And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord , before the new court, And said, O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee? Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever? And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying, If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.

God honors faith and He honors His Word.

2 Chronicles 20:20-23
And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.  And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord , and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord ; for his mercy endureth for ever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.  For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them : and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.

When you praise God, you confuse the enemy. And the enemy will never join in your praise.

Marriage Matters: P.4 (10.21.18)

Matthew 19:3-10
The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,  And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?  Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.  His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.

Jesus points to what is at the root of separation and divorce– a hard heart.

Matthew 19:8
He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

It is the hardness of hearts that’s leads to divorce.

Mark 4:5-6
And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

If the heart is hard, it will not receive what is being sown into it.

Hebrews 3:8, 3:15, 4:7– all warn us not to live with a hard heart.

Isaiah 64:8
But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Romans 9:21
Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

We are described as clay. You can’t work with clay that is hard and not moldable. When two become one, God is molding them into one. That means each must have a soft heart.

The enemy uses offense (unmet expectations) to harden hearts. We must be vigilant about not allowing offense into our hearts– especially in marriage. The tighter the relationship, the greater the expectation… thus, the greater opportunity for offense.

One of the most critical traits for a successful marriage is adaptability.

Adaptability – Able to change, or be changed, in order to fit or work better in some situation or for some purpose.

Two can’t come together as one if they aren’t adaptable. Success in life is based on the ability to adapt to the season that you are in.

The quality of your life can never go beyond the quality of your relationships.

Don’t let the wrong thing motivate you into marriage. Don’t make the permanent decision based off something temporary, like looks.

In marriage, there has to be adaptability. Ask yourself, “How adaptable am I? How willing am I to change? Have I allowed my heart to get hard?

Do not allow offense to take root into your marriage. It will destroy it.

God created the man and the woman to each have needs. They are different.

Be sensitive to the fact that your spouse has needs. When you focus on meeting your spouse’s needs, that frees them up to meet yours.

Ephesians 4:26-27,31-32
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Unmet needs will affect and influence behavior.

Another critical trait to possess in marriage is empathy. Because marriage is a needs-based relationship, empathy is critical.

Empathy – The ability to share someone else’s feelings

If you don’t have empathy, you cannot relate to what someone else is going through.

Have a desire to meet the needs of your spouse, because you don’t want them to be susceptible to the mental warfare of wondering how they will get their needs met. Don’t leave that door open for the enemy.

Your needs control your behavior. We behave differently when our needs are met.

When you meet the needs of your spouse, you have liberated their mind to think about how they are going to meet your needs.

God has placed the responsibility of initiating this on the man.

Ephesians 5:25-26,28-29
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

Four separate times in Ephesians, God commands the husband to love the wife. As the head, the husband bears the responsibility to initiate for the well-being of his wife  and family.

Empathy means being sensitive to the needs of your spouse. The moment you are not sensitive to you spouse’s needs, you are not being empathetic.

Try to meet your spouses needs as if they were your own.

Selfish people don’t have successful relationships.

It is possible to put unrealistic expectations on your spouse. “He/she just doesn’t make me happy anymore…” is an unrealistic expectation. Your spouse cannot make you happy, and you shouldn’t put that burden on them.

All humans need acceptance, identity, security and purpose. Those things are found in Jesus.

Praying The Word: P.3 (10.17.18)

Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord , my strength, and my redeemer.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Isaiah 55:11
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

The Word of God always works.

Proverbs 5:7
Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

Romans 10:8
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

Romans 10:9-10,14
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

There is not a more powerful position for a born again believer to be in than to be  declaring the Word of God in the authority of the name of Jesus.

John 15:7-8
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;  And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Isaiah 53:1
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

The arm of the Lord is revealed to those who believe His report.

Ephesians 6:12-13,17-18
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places .  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Principalities are fallen angels that have a stronghold over a certain territory.

Take the Word of God into prayer! Ephesians 6 says that it is the Word that is our weapon (the sword of the spirit).

When you don’t have the Word of God in your life, you leave your spirit man without a weapon.

When the enemy attacks,  respond with the Word. It is the only effective weapon against him. For example, when Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus responded to his attacks with the word; by saying, ” it is written…”

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The Words of God is living. “Quick” means alive.

The Word will pierce your heart and it can change what you didn’t think could change!

John 6:63
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

You need God’s Word as it relates to what you are facing.

James 5:17-18
Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.  And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

Deuteronomy 11:16-20
Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; And then the Lord’s wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the Lord giveth you. Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.  And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:

1 Kings 17:1
And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

Elijah didn’t just simply decide to ask for it to not rain. He knew what God’s word said about punishment for idolatry  (Deuteronomy). So, for God’s glory, he prayed that it wouldn’t rain, knowing that was what the word said. Then, again for God’s glory, He prayed that it would rain.

God always honors His Word.

FORWARD

God always responds to faith. He is good, and He wants to interact with us. When we pray His Word, in the name of Jesus, we can be 100% sure that He hears us. While He was on earth, Jesus set the best example for us to follow. When He prayed, He knew His father heard it. There was no doubt in His mind (John 11:41). God desires that we pray with that same confidence.

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. (1 John 5:14-15)

God will never break His Word. When Jesus died, He paid the debt for sin completely. When we believe on Him for salvation, we put on His garment of righteousness. When we are born again, God sees us through the righteousness of Jesus. So pray with confidence, knowing your Heavenly Father hears you- and He will always make His Word good! (Num. 23:19/Isa. 46:10-11, 61:10/Rom. 3:21-26/2 Cor. 5:21/Col. 2:10-15).

God’s Word is His will. It helps us understand how He sees things. Here, we have put together some of His promises for you to stand on! This list is not exhaustive. There are many, many more promises found in the Bible that relate to each of these topics. These promises are a great place to get started. They reflect God’s heart, and they apply to every single person who has been born again! Faith comes by hearing the Word. That means that when we speak the Word out loud, we build our faith! Below is prayer for healing that exemplifies how to take the promises found in the Word and return them back to God in prayer. Do not feel like you have to pray these specific words exactly. Return God’s Word back to Him in your own way. He is listening.

“Heavenly Father,

I come to you in Jesus name. Forgive me of my sins and fill me with   your Spirit. I know that sickness is not your will for me, because you said in your Word that you wish above all that I would prosper and be in health. You said by Your stripes I am healed, and that the prayer of faith would save the sick. You said that whatever I bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever I loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. So, according to your Word, in the authority of the name of Jesus, I bind up and curse this sickness in my body. You are not a man that you should lie. You said that if you spoke it you would bring it to pass, and if you said it you would make it good. I believe your report. You said you heal me of all my diseases. So in the name of Jesus, I release from heaven your supernatural anointing by the power of your blood Jesus over my body to heal me. Jesus, I believe that you took my sin and sickness in your body on the cross, and I make the exchange right now: my sickness for your wholeness. I receive your wholeness by faith and thank you for it, in Jesus name, Amen!”

There’s not a more powerful position for any believer to be in than to be praying the Word of God in the authority of the name of Jesus. God will move when you return His Word to Him in faith.

Below you will find scriptures relating to the topics of healing, fear/worry, strength, provision, guidance, kingdom dominion, marriage, children, forgiveness, and the home. May God bless you as you stand on His promises.

HEALING

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (3 John 2)

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. (1 Peter 2:24)

And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar [gray] hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you. (Isaiah 46:4)

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5)

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases. (Psalm 103:2-3)

O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. (Psalm 30:2)

Who his own self [Jesus] bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. (1 Peter 2:24)

Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. (Psalm 41:1-3)

Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
(Psalm 107:19-20)

I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. (Psalm 118:17)

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. (Proverbs 4:20-22)

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee. (Exodus 15:16)

And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. (Exodus 23:25)

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. (Matthew 9:23)

And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me  And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. (Luke 8:43-48)

FEAR/WORRY/ANXIETY

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.  For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. (Isaiah 41:10,13)

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. (Isaiah 43:2)

For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. (Isaiah 50:7)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: (Psalms 46:1-5)

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. (Isaiah 26:3)

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. (Luke 12:5-6)

I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;  And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room. O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord. (Psalm 31:7-8, 23-24)

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (Philippians 4:6-9)

I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? (Psalm 118:5-6)

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
(Romans 8:14-17)

The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. (Psalms 9:9-10)

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11)

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.  Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (Joshua 1:6-9)

STRENGTH

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. (Hebrews 10:23, 35-37)

Blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. (Psalm 144:1-2)

Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the Lord: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. For the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. (Isaiah 51:1,3)

The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. (Exodus 15:2)

Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine: Thus saith thy Lord the Lord, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:  But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee;
(Isaiah 51:21-23)

Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.  For thus saith the Lord, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money. Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I. How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! (Isaiah 52:1-3,6-7)

Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength: (Isaiah 26:4)

PROVISION

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing. (Psalm 34:10)

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power. (Colossians 2:10)

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (Hebrews 13:5)

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (2 Corinthians 9:8)

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
(Matthew 6:26)

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. (Psalms 23:1)

And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not, And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full; (Deuteronomy 6:10-11)

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:31-33)

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
(Malachi 3:10)

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1:3-4)

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:25-33)

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (2 Corinthians 9:8)

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
(Matthew 7:11)

Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
(Psalms 37:3-4)

GUIDANCE

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. (Psalms 32:8)

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. (Isaiah 30:21)

And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. (Isaiah 58:11)

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26)

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. (Psalms 37:23-24)

The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. (Psalms 25:9-10)

A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps. (Proverbs 16:9)

Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
(Proverbs 20:18)

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (James 1:5)

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? (Matthew 7:7-11)

Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.
(Isaiah 48:17)

KINGDOM/DOMINION

Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:18-20)

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:26-28)

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! (Psalm 8:4-9)

MARRIAGE

Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s
sake hath forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:32)

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)

What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. (Mark 10:9)

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. (Colossians 3:12-14,18-19)

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. (Ephesians 5:25)

Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. (1 Peter 3:1)

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it even as the Lord loves the church. For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery; but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless, let everyone of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. (Ephesians 5:28-33)

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. (James 3:13-18)

And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? (1 Corinthians 7:10-11, 14-16)

CHILDREN

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. (Psalms 127:3-5)

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4)

And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children. (Isaiah 54:13)

He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. (Proverbs 13:24)

Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers. (Proverbs 17:6)

The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame. (Proverbs 29:15)

A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. (Proverbs 13:22)

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)

FORGIVENESS

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:32)

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. (Colossians 3:12-13)

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven. (Luke 6:37)

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. (Matthew 18:21-22)

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. (Matthew 5:23-24)

But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all. Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many. So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow. Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him. For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things. To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; (2 Corinthians 2:5-10)

FOR THE HOME

The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. (Proverbs 3:33)

And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places; (Isaiah 32:18)

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. (Matthew 7:24-25)

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15)

Marriage Matters: P.3 (10.14.18)

Matthew 19:1-6
And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan; And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.

Jesus came to restore the relationship that was lost when sin entered.

Genesis 1:26-27
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Without the presence of God, two cant be unified as one.

It’s the pressure of the process that forges two things into one. For two to be made one in marriage, there has to be pressure applied. The difficulties that you face together will bring you closer together.

Offense is the number one divider of relationships. Offense is rooted in unmet expectations.

Hebrews 1:3 says that God’s glory is His expressed image.

Jesus came to restore man back to his original condition before sin.

Genesis 2:15-24
And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.  And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;  And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Man is made from the earth, but his spirit comes from God.

There should not be a relationship that takes precedence over your marriage.

Both have needs that the other can meet in marriage.

John 2:1-11
And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it . And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.  And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it . When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Jesus chose a wedding as the first location to reveal His glory.

Jesus still does miracles at weddings and in marriages.
