4 Ways To Find The Will Of God In Your Life: P.1 (6.18.18)

Isaiah 1:18-20
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord : though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it .

Matthew 6:9-13
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

There is a will that God for has for every soul.

2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

God has a plan and a purpose for your life.

Don’t let your present pain put you in a place that you start making decisions based on things that are subject to change. Don’t let your pain keep you from receiving the reward of your future, and the will that God has for you.

God’s will is something that we have to seek. It’s not automatic.

John 17:3
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

The will of God is something you have to seek and surrender to.

God has a will that is detailed for you- down to the smallest thing.

Isaiah 30:15,19-21
For thus saith the Lord God , the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not. For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee. And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers: And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Even if you are outside of the will of God, you are not outside access to the will of God. It is always available if you seek it. Even if you think you’ve gone too far off course, you can still get in the perfect will of God.

Matthew 26:39
And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

God is interested in every detail of your life.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

You will never live to regret the will of God.

The will of God is always worth waiting on…don’t settle for less.

What you’ve done in your life has not altered the will that God has for you.

Psalm 40:7-8
Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

You will never regret seeking the will of God.

For many people it is not until we suffer that we are willing to submit.

Psalm 143:7-10
Hear me speedily, O Lord : my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit. Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. Deliver me, O Lord , from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me. Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

Be patient in the will of God.

1 John 5:14

1 Peter 3:17
For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

There is a reward to the will of God

Jeremiah 33:1-3
Moreover the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying, Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name; Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

1 Peter 4:2,19

Fake Identity: Pastor Peter Pizarro (6.13.18)

The enemy often tries to convince us that we need status, possessions, money or fame to feel good about ourselves. He knows that how we define ourselves determines the way we talk, act and think.

Have you ever used a fake ID to gain access to somewhere you knew you didn’t belong?
Maybe you have tried to act like someone else to fit in with a certain group. So many people try to find their identity in what they do, what they have and who they are with.

We should find our value in who our Father is. We get to know Him by His Word. It helps us become confident in what He placed in us.

1 Samuel 17:4-5 33-41
And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass. And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth. And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.  David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee. And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine. And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.

Saul tried to dress David with his armor, but David went with what he knew. He went with what was tested and true. If David would have gone to fight Goliath in Saul’s Armor,  the outcome would have been different.

Know your value.

1 Peter 1:18
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

You wont know your value until you truly understand what has been sacrificed for you.
When you value something you are willing to sacrifice for it.  Jesus didn’t just sacrifice the things we count as valuable in this life (silver and gold). He sacrificed His very life.

Know your purpose. Don’t run from it.

Meet The Architect: Pastor Tim Ross (6.10.18)

Psalm 127:1
Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman taketh but in vain.

The architect has the vision and the builder carries it out. It’s a partnership. God is the architect. He has the specific plans for our lives. Here are some things to know about Him:

1) The architect is specific.

Genesis 6:14-22
Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it. And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee. And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive. And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them. Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

Remember that up until this time, it had never rained on the earth before. Noah was probably thinking, “what is rain?” and maybe even, “what is an ark?” God didn’t show Noah the whole picture . He gave him very specific instructions, which Noah had to carry out in faith. Can you image the questions Noah must have had when he realized God’s instructions were to build a door in the ark with no closing mechanism? Or about the fact that the ark had no rudder or navigational system. Regardless of his inability to see how it would all work out, he didn’t allow that to hinder his obedience. We can’t allow logic to impede our obedience to God. If we are really trusting God by faith, we don’t have to know exactly where we are going. We must trust that God can see the big picture. We should follow His instructions exactly, by faith.

Jesus doesn’t want a compartmentalized relationship with us. He wants all of us… including our trust in Him.

Luke 5:1-11
And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

They had been fishing literally all night and caught nothing. Then Jesus asked them to go right back out. Because they listened to His instruction, their nets were so full they were tearing. And, when Peter saw how many fish they were catching , it caused him to repent. (It’s the goodness of God that leads us to repentance–Romans 2:4)

2) The architect’s patterns are important.

Exodus 25:9
According to all that I show thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.

If you’re building according to a pattern, that means the thing you are building exists elsewhere. When God gives instruction to build a pattern in the earth, its based off something that already exists in heaven.

Hebrews 8: 1-5
Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern showed to thee in the mount.

The earthly tabernacle that Moses built was from a blueprint of the heavenly tabernacle. It was as a type, or shadow, of the real one in heaven.

God’s patterns are important because He is trying to establish reflections on earth of the things in heaven.

The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed.
The New Testament is the Old Testament revealed.
And it’s all about Jesus.

For example: There is a reason why Moses couldn’t go in the Promised land. It wasn’t because of his anger. Its was because he didn’t follow God’s instruction. God told Moses to strike the rock the first time (Exodus 17:6// A shadow or picture of Jesus, the cornerstone, who would be struck and crucified for our sins.) A short while later, God told Moses to speak to the rock (Numbers 20:8-12), but he didn’t. He struck it again-which was to present a lie on the revelation of the coming Jesus (who would not be crucified twice). There are certain things that are impermissible because they are not accurate representations of Jesus. Example: God intended marriage to be between one and one woman, because it represents Jesus relationship with His bride, the church . etc.

3) There are only two patterns:

Romans 12:1-2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

To “conform” mens to be shaped into a pattern or mold. There are only two patterns that anyone could be shaped into: demonic and Godly. We’ll either be shaped in the image of evil, or into the image of God. All of us are born into sin, but when we become saved, it is the Word of God that transforms us and molds us into the image of His son.

We must meet the Architect, and be shaped by His Word. This is how we become transformed into His image. It allows us to build our lives according to His will (which is never in vain!)

Dr. McFarland (6.6.18)

3 John 1:2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

It is God’s will that we prosper and be in good health. We have to hear by faith what God wants for us.

Romans 10:14
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

The will of God has been paid for by the blood of Jesus, but it is not automatic in our lives. We have to call on it by faith.

God’s timeframe isn’t always our timeframe. Sometimes things can look like they are getting worse and worse in the natural, but God is working.

Don’t discount anyone. God can use anyone.

1 Corinthians 4:1-2
Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

As stewards we should be found faithful. How faithful/loyal/consistent are you towards God?

Luke 12:47
And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

Hosea 4:1-6
Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest. Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Their lack of faithfulness was affecting God’s will for their lives.

Acts 8:26-35
And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understands thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:  In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

People who get to great success in life don’t just go straight to great success. They start out by being faithful in the little things. They are obedient to do the little things. Phillip ran to do what God told him to do. The eunuch heard Jesus preached and it changed his life.

We have a responsibly to live in a way that people can see Jesus through us.

John 16:13-16
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

Christians can be misunderstood in this society… but what cannot be denied is the power we have when we obey the word of God. “For a little while” Jesus isn’t here. The Holy Spirit is, and He is using us to reach the world.

God has given us the ability to understand His mysteries. The lost don’t understand the things of God. But He has given us the honor of stewarding His mysteries.

Dr. Glen Schultz: (6.3.18)

2 Samuel 7:23
And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?

God is eternal. Before anything was – God is.

Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Romans 1:20
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

God works for His name and His glory.

1 Kings 18:37-39
Hear me, O Lord , hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.  And when all the people saw it , they fell on their faces: and they said, The Lord , he is the God; the Lord , he is the God.

2 Kings 19:19
Now therefore, O Lord our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the Lord God, even thou only.

1 Kings 8:55-60
And he stood, and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying, Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant. The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us: That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers. And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the Lord, be nigh unto the Lord our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require: That all the people of the earth may know that the Lord is God, and that there is none else.

To glorify God is to live in such a way that His character is revealed and His praise is increased.” – Gary Unrig

1 John 2:6
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Our lifestyle should tell the world who God is.

Ezekiel 36:22-28
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, thus saith the Lord God; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

John 17:17
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

God cleaned us through His Word. It sets us apart.

You can’t live a life that glorifies God without the power of the Holy Spirit in you.

Recognizing Your Friends and Enemies: P.2 (5.30.18)

Romans 4:18-22
Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

Matthew 11:29-30
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Jesus is your friend.

Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Isaiah 5:13
Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

Hebrews 2…don’t forget the things you’ve heard.

Psalm 103 describes the way God feels about us, and the way He thinks towards us.

Remind yourself of the promises of God. Know what the Word says and who God says you are. No matter how you may feel, choose to believe what God says about you. Feelings are fickle and cannot always be trusted, but God’s Word is always true and 100% trustworthy.

Every relationship in your life is making something easier. Being friends with Jesus will making a life that pleases God easier.

James 2:23
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

Friendship is a covenant.

We live in a world that has much opposition to the Word of God. Don’t let your mind entertain things that don’t line up with the Word. Don’t let fear or worry hinder you. Ask yourself, “what am I allowing to persist that is hindering my faith?”

Genesis 12:1-3
Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Abraham had to separate himself from the people and friends in his life that would hinder his walk of faith. He needed to surround himself with people who were likeminded, and who made living for God easier.

Genesis 15:1-18
After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. And Abram said, Lord God , what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?  And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.  And he believed in the Lord ; and he counted it to him for righteousness. And he said unto him, I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.  And he said, Lord God , whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it? And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not. And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away. And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

God is always trustworthy. His Word will not return to Him void. He will always bring it to pass.

Genesis 17:1-4
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

Psalm 50:16
But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?

Family Matters. P6 (5.27.18)

John 14:6-9
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

God has ordained the family to be the conduit by which we secure the next generation for the Kingdom of God.

Psalm 127:1
Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

When God created man, He did it in His own image (Genesis 1:26). He was securing His image for the advancement of the Kingdom in earth.

Because we are created in the image of God, we are imitators. Jesus bore the perfect image, or nature, of God. We are also His image-bearers.

John 14:10
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Colossians 1:15
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature

John 5: 19
Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

God has called us to be representatives of His kingdom, His love, His mercy and His character.

You can’t represent what was never presented. To represent means you are re- presenting what was presented to you. We must know the heart of God to re-present Him to others. His Word is the avenue by which we get to know Him.

Ephesians 5:1
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

He’s saying that children are imitators. And just as children imitate, we should imitate God.

Our children will walk in the image that we set before them. We can’t expect them to represent an image that was never presented to them.

Parents are responsible to monitor whats being presented to their children at all times. Know what they are watching on tv, who they are spending time with, etc… As parents, we can correct behavior, but we cannot make our children un-see things they’ve seen. Don’t let them get prematurely exposed to the perversion of this world. As we are raising our children, we should be constantly feeding them with the Word of God so that they can mature into Godly adults.

We are all born into sin. Once we become saved, we still have a sinful nature that wars with our sanctified nature. Whichever nature you feed the most will become the strongest. You can either feed sin or righteousness. Whichever you feed the most (with what you watch, listen to, read, etc…)  will come alive.

Proverbs 20:11
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

Proverbs 22:6,15
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Everyone is born in sin. Children are born with foolishness in them (Proverbs 22:15). It’s the job of the parents to correct them and train them up in the ways of the Lord. Without fail, the world will try and expose children to what is evil and perverted.  It is the job of the parents to expose children to the Word of God and His righteousness.

Parents, when you discipline your kids, remember that we want to correct behavior, not nature. If a child does something foolish or dumb, don’t call them foolish or dumb. If you call them a name, you’re attaching that behavior to them. Never connect your child’s behavior with their character. Instead say something line, “What you did was dumb. You’re too smart to act like that.” Discipline behavior and edify character.

Investment in our kids lives has to be intentional. It’s not just going to happen.

When God corrects us, it is always for the future. When we correct our children, it should always be done with the future in mind.

Proverbs 19:18
Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

Proverbs 29:15
The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

Be consistent about what is and is not acceptable in your home. Parents should be in agreement with each other.
