#Blessed- P.1 (9.5.16)

Deuteronomy 30:19
[19] I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

God specially asked that heaven and earth have record because one affects the other.

Prayer is a legal petition to God. The Bible tells us what we have a legal right to expect from God. When we pray, we are calling for heaven’s will to be done in earth.

Sometimes when we get something new, like a new car or a new house, we might say, “isn’t this a blessing..”, but the blessing of God isn’t tangible. You may have gotten that thing as a byproduct of the blessing, but the blessing of God itself is spiritual. Its a supernatural endowment or enabling that comes on the life of a believer. God works through the blessing to manifest His will on earth.  We are blessed to be a blessing to others until all families of the earth have been blessed.

We don’t need to worry about what people say, or what circumstances look like naturally. If the blessing of the Lord is in you, and He wills that something happen in your life, nothing can stop it. Numbers 23 tells us that no man can curse who God has blessed.

Romans 8:1-2 talks about two laws that are always working simultaneously: the law of life/blessing and the law of death/cursing.

You choose which one you’ll operate in based off how you speak and act. Stop saying, “I’ll never pay off those student loans.” If you speak that way, you’ve just chosen to speak cursing over yourself.

We have to learn to speak blessing. We choose either blessing or cursing with our mouth.

Proverbs 18:21
[21] Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

God specifically wanted heaven and earth to record what we choose, life or death, blessing or cursing, because we give life to what we speak. Jesus said that when we confess Him before men, He would confess us before the angels. Why? because they are ministering spirits that are programed by God to respond to the Word of God. When we speak the Word of God in faith, angels move to bring it to pass.

Ask yourself, are your words giving heaven anything to advance?

Hebrews 1:14
Psalms 103:20

Ephesians 1:3
[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

We are heirs of Christ, meaning we are heirs to all spiritual blessings. It is possible to be an heir of something that you haven’t taken hold of. If you are not walking in a particular blessing, start getting a vision for your life based off the word of God. Speak and act in line with that vision.

Proverbs 10:22
[22] The blessing of the Lord , it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Raising Godly Children In An Ungodly World- Dr. Glen Schultz (8.27.16)

Psalm 127:3-5 KJV
[3] Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord : and the fruit of the womb is his reward. [4] As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. [5] Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
Children are God’s homework assignment for parents.
Assignment Description: Making Arrows
For an arrow to be effective, it must be three thing:
1- Straight: the only way our lives can be straight is by salvation in Jesus Christ.
2- Balanced: Gods a Word gives balance. Children must be taught the Word of God.
3- Razor sharp: In order for children to become sharp enough to be used as instruments for the furthering of God’s kingdom, we must teach them to know Jesus and to live under the total control of the Holy Spirit.
Every child has the potential to be an effective arrow. It is the job of the parent to raise them from birth to maturity so that at the end of it, they can hand them over to God as an instrument for His kingdom.
The Assignments Priority
Deuteronomy 6:4-7 KJV
[4] Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord : [5] And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. [6] And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: [7] And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Deut. 6- There are 4 times a day we are called to teach our children: When they wake up, when they are in the house, when they are out of the house, and when they lie down. Thats all the time!
First priority in life should be to love the Lord our God.
When we leave this world behind, we leave the next generation in our stead. We must raise them to know and live by the same principles in God’s word. If we don’t they will be burned by the false philosophies the world has to offer them.
The Assignments Process: Kingdom Education
Biblical Principles for Achieving Kingdom Education

1. The education of children and youth is the primary responsibility of parents.
(Ps. 127:3, Deut. 6:7-9, Deut. 11:19, Ps. 78:4-5, Prov. 22:6, Mal. 2:15, Eph. 6:4)
2. The education of children and youth is a 24-hour-a-day, 7-days-a-week process that must take place from birth through maturity.
(Deut. 6:7, Deut. 11:19, Prov. 22:6)
3. The education of children and youth must have as it’s primary goals the salvation and discipleship of the next generation.
(Matt. 28:19-20, Ps. 78:6-7)
4. The education of children and youth must be based on God’s Word as the absolute truth.
(Matt. 24:35, Ps. 119:89, Isa. 40:8)
5. The education of children and youth must hold Christ preeminent in all of life.
(Col. 2:3, Luke 11:52, Col 2:6-10)
6. The education of children and youth must not hinder the spiritual and moral development of the next generation.
(Matt. 18:6, Matt. 19:13-14, Mark 10:13-16, Luke 18:15-17)
7. The education of children and youth, if and when delegated to other by parents, must be done by teachers chosen with the utmost care to ensure that they all follow these principles.
(Ex. 18:21, 1 Sam 1:27-28, 1 Sam 3:1-10, Ex. 18:21)
8. The education of children and youth results in the formation of lifestyles or worldviews that will be patterned after the belief systems or worldview of their teachers.
(Luke 6:40, Phil. 4:9)
9. The education of children and youth must lead to true wisdom by connecting all knowledge to a biblical worldview frame of reference.
(Prov. 4:5-7, Prov. 9:10, Ps. 19:1, Rom. 1:20, Col. 2:3)
10. The education of children and youth must have a view of the future that includes the eternal perspective.
(Col. 3:1-2, Col. 3:23-24, Matt. 6:19-21, Heb. 11:13, 2 Tim 4:6-8, Acts 20:24)
The Assignments Grade: Pass or Fail
Example of Saul…
1 Samuel 15:11 KJV
[11] It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the Lord all night.
Saul failed his assignment from God because he only half obeyed.
3 John 1:4 KJV
[4] I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
Whoever wants the next generation the most will get them.

Honor-P.7 (8.24.16)

Matthew 10:40-42
He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

You cannot advance in the kingdom of God and overlook people. By dishonoring people you limit what the Lord can do in your life.

Don’t undermine anyone who is in a seat of authority. If there is a seat or position you will not honor, that is a seat you will not take.

Matthew 20:20-21
Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him , and desiring a certain thing of him. And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.

Positions/seats are set by God.

Instead of asking God for a specific seat or position, ask Him for His will!

It doesn’t matter how or where you serve in the Kingdom. Show honor.

You raise your value and influence by serving. Jesus said, “he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.” (Matthew 23:11)

Matthew 20:20-22
Then came to him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

The woman asked for asked for position. Jesus responded by asking if she was willing and able to pay the price.

God uses someone to set the price, to see if you are worthy for the seat you want in life.

No man or devil has the power to keep you from your destiny and the plan of God!

Psalm 57:2
I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
Daniel 4:17
This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
Daniel 2:21
And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
Psalm 75:7
But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

The price for your seat is set by those that oppose you.

2 Samuel 16:9-11
Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head. And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the Lord hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so? And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it ? let him alone, and let him curse; for the Lord hath bidden him.

There is no man that can control your destiny. If you are willing to show honor, God will honor you.

Isaiah 54:16-17
Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord , and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord .

When you honor people, you pay the price for the seat…honor is the currency of the kingdom.

Awakened By Mercy- P.3 (8.21.16)

Romans 11:32
For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

We are saved and kept by the mercy of God.

Titus 3:3-7
For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

The mercy of God is a demonstration of God’s love that would prevent us from getting what we had coming. We don’t get eternal judgment and condemnation because of Jesus.

The grace of God is His blessing on our lives mentally, physically, spiritually, financially, etc..

Mercy deals with the past. It is meant to deal with the voice of condemnation that tries to drive us out of fellowship with God.

We are justified (made in right standing with God) by His grace. It makes us heirs to eternal life. Grace and mercy are both given to the believer the moment they accept Jesus.

Psalm 94:18: “When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up.”

If your “foot is slipping” it is probably because you are walking somewhere you didn’t need to be. But, every minute of every day, God’s mercy keeps you.

When we first got saved, we had so much zeal and joy. But then weeks and years go by, and we can get to a place where we lose the joy of our salvation. We aren’t where we ought to be. We have to know that on our best day and our worst day, it is only the blood of Jesus that saves us. Don’t let where you’ve come to stop you from pressing in to where you know you should be. It’s not possible for you to get “too far” from God because its the same mercy that saved you that will be the same mercy that keeps you.

Psalm 23:6
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

“Follow’ means to be in pursuit.

Have you ever made a bad decision and gotten yourself into a situation that you thought you couldn’t get out of? Where you thought, “I made my bed, and now I have to lay in it.” Well, goodness and mercy have a role to play in that situation. When your mind is telling you that its over, goodness and mercy are saying it’s not. No matter what life may look like in front of us, God has our back.

God specializes in broken things. There is no life that He cannot restore. There is no situation you can get into that God cannot heal.

Jonah was told by God to go to Nineveh, a wicked city, to preach repentance. However, Jonah went in the exact opposite direction of the way God told him to go. As he fled by ship, a great storm arose. Jonah told the sailors it was because of him that the Lord caused such a storm. For this, they threw him overboard where he was swallowed by a great fish. Clearly this wasn’t a pleasant experience for Jonah. He compared it to being in hell.

Because of his disobedience, Jonah was in a situation he couldn’t get out of. But the moment he acknowledged the Lord in repentance, his situation changed.

Jonah 2:1-7
Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly,And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O Lord my God. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

Don’t let your past disobedience keep you from turning back to God. When you are ready to turn to Him, He will be there waiting for you in love.  The moment Jonah prayed in repentance, he was freed from the fish.

Jonah 2:8-10
They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord. And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

Don’t turn to other things because you feel like you’ve gotten too far to turn to God. To “observe lying vanities” is to turn to other things (pills, alcohol, anything…) to help you cope with the reality of your life. Jonah said that to do this is to forsake the mercy that could be yours. You may deserve condemnation and judgment because of your disobedience, but Jesus already paid the price for your sin. God isn’t looking to punish you. He is a God of restoration. The moment you are ready to repent, to turn around, His goodness and mercy will be right there to greet you…because they were following you, in pursuit, all along!

Honor- P.6 (8.17.16)

Matthew 10:40-42
He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

This verse illustrates honor. It talks about honoring those who are in positions above you, beside you and under you. In all three situations, when you show honor to another, there is a reward.

Honor is the currency, the medium of exchange, of the Kingdom. It’s how you advance the Kingdom of God.

There are people who want to hear from God. But what if God wanted to talk to you through somebody?

Our God is a relational God. He created man to have a relationship with Him. He created mankind to be relational. Our vertical relationship with God will affect our horizontal relationship with man. The quality of our life will be based on the quality of your relationships. Right now, if you’re struggling in your relationships, then you’re probably feeling unhappy about the quality of your life. The enemy works hard to isolate because thats a dangerous place to be. Relationships have importance and value.

God wants to reward our life by the people He puts in our life. But if we don’t show the people in our life honor, we’ll miss the reward.

Luke 6:38 says that whatever you sow into your relationships, that what you’re going to reap. God will bring the harvest of what you sow back to you through relationships. He will work through people to enrich and bless you. If you think you don’t need anyone, you’ll cut off all the avenues that God could use to bless you.

The new testament prophet is the expounder of God’s Word. Jesus is saying in Matthew 10 that if you honor the prophet, the teacher of His Word, there is a reward to be gained. If you say you don’t need church, you’ll miss the reward that could have been had.

Ask yourself, how rewarding is your life? Thats a direct correlation to how much honor is in your life.

Sometimes we are reserved to show people honor out of fear that there will be an abuse of that honor. For example, a woman might not honor her husband because she is afraid that he will abuse it. Or a husband may not honor his wife. When you refuse to honor your spouse, you will miss the reward that having a husband/wife could bring. There are things that God wants to do in a marriage that require honor for each other’s position. Don’t miss it because of fear. You don’t have to be afraid of anyone. You don’t have to fear man.

Psalm 118:6
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

When I am doing what God called me to do, I will not fear. The Lord is on my side. Don’t let the fear of man cause you not to honor God.

Proverbs 29:25-26
The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe. Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment cometh from the Lord.

Its a trap when you fear another person. That doesn’t mean you have to disrespect them to prove you’re not afraid of them. The evidence that you don’t fear someone is that you don’t let them dictate your actions. The moment you start to allow them to dictate your actions is the moment you give into fear.

You may seek someones favor, especially if they are in a position over you, but the ultimate outcome of our life comes from the Lord. You don’t have to jump through hoops to get someone’s favor. Honor the Lord, and still honor people, but let the Lord dictate who shows you favor. You sow the seed of honor to everybody and let God determine who will show you favor.

It’s the same principle with friends. Proverbs 18:24 says, “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly.” You should sow friendliness to everybody and then let the Lord bring the perfect friends into your life.

Treat everybody with respect. Treat everybody with honor. Let God choose who He is going to use to bless your life. God set this world up for us to be interdependent on each other.

Honor is the delegation of authority.

1 Samuel 15-
Saul started out in a good place. He was honored as King by God. He had been anointed with oil and delegated that authority. However, eventually Saul disobeyed God and dishonored Him. This caused his anointing to be stripped from him. When Samuel confronts Saul, we see the reason as to why Saul dishonored God.

v. 24
And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

Saul was afraid of people. His fear of people caused him to dishonor God. The fear of man brings a snare. Its a trap. Saul had to face the consequences of the fear he walked in.

Honring God will liberate you from the influence of man.

Prov 29:27
An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

Now Saul is still king, but he is being destroyed by the position because he no longer has the anointing to be there. David now has the anointing.

1 Samuel 24:1-18 -David had the opportunity to kill Saul, yet he didn’t. Even though Saul had been seeking to destroy him, David chose instead to honor Saul. If David would have been afraid of him, he would have killed him when he had the chance. But David knew that you can’t honor God when you fear man.

The test of honor is how you will honor those that will not honor you. God wants to see if you will honor a seat that he wants to put you in. He wants to see if you’ll honor that seat before you are in it. David honored Saul’s seat as king before he became king himself. Thats why God called him “a man after his own heart.”

Matthew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

God wants us to let Him be the one who orders our future. He doesn’t want us to compromise honoring Him for the sake of getting ourselves further in life. We can’t let what other people are saying cause us not to honor God.

When the apostles were told that they could no longer preach in Jesus’ name, Peter replied, “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)

Dont condone that which God condemns. Give honor and let the Lord fight your battles. You can honor a man without fearing him. You can’t honor a man you fear. If we just do what God has called us to do, He will take care of everything else.

In marriage:
Husbands want to be honored.
Wives need security. The husband is supposed to be the savior of the body.

Stop worrying about what he/she isn’t doing. You do what God called you to do and let Him change your spouse.

Psalm 89:20-24,35-37
I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him. But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted. Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me. It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.

David could walk in confidence knowing that he didn’t have to take care of his enemies. God takes care of his enemies. God made this covenant with David because he passed all the test. When Davids father asked him to do something, he did it. His older brothers were constantly mocking and berating him, and he still honored them. He brought them bread and cheese. Because of the honor David showed, he was anointed to face goliath, to become king. He didn’t walk around in arrogance, thinking he was too good to do certain things. He refused to dishonor anyone and because of that, God honored him.

Awakened By Mercy- P.2 (8.14.16)

Lamentations 3:21-23
This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Jeremiah says that the reason he’ll always have hope is because God’s mercies are new every morning.

Psalm 85:10
Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

This shows the reconciliation between mercy and truth.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The payment for sin is death.

2 Corinthians 1:3
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

We are saved by mercy. Jesus is mercy.

Not only are we saved by His mercy, we are kept by His mercy.

Psalm 30:5
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Ephesians 2:1-5
And you hath he quickened , who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

There is never a time that God’s position is not mercy. He is seated in mercy and ready to receive you.

Exodus 25:17 describes the mercy seat. This is where the God’s spirit would sit when it came down on the tabernacle.

It is God’s goodness that leads us to repent. Romans 2:4

Hebrews 4:15-16 says that it is by mercy that we can come before God’s throne of grace, boldly!

In the book of Ruth, Boaz is a type of Christ. He captured Ruth’s attention by setting out handfuls of purpose so that she could glean it. Though she was a Moabite, he redeemed her.

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Honor- P.5 (8.10.16)

Matthew 10:40-42
[40] He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. [41] He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. [42] And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

There is a reward for honoring.

There is no exchange that can be made in the kingdom without honor. It is the currency of the kingdom.

Just because you have the anointing for a seat doesn’t mean you are in the seat.
Just because you are in a seat doesn’t mean you have the anointing to be there.

Don’t glory in the seat, glory in the One who gave you the seat.

None of us need a seat we are not anointed to sit in.

Because of where we are as a society and a family, we have men who have mature bodies, but immature minds.

1 Samuel 16:4-13
[4] And Samuel did that which the Lord spake, and came to Beth-lehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably? [5] And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the Lord : sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice. [6] And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the Lord’s anointed is before him. [7] But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. [8] Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the Lord chosen this. [9] Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither hath the Lord chosen this. [10] Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The Lord hath not chosen these. [11] And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither. [12] And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he. [13] Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

1 Samuel 17:17-18
[17] And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn , and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren; [18] And carry these ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand, and look how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge.

The anointed was sent to minister to the older brothers who had not been anointed.

We disqualify ourselves from being used by God when we don’t honor those above, beside and beneath us.

Gen 24: Rebekah wouldn’t have been at the well drawing water had she not been there honoring her father.

Honoring always positions you to receive God’s best.
